Jazz summer school
Dear friends and neighbours
You don't have to be a jazz-obsessive to enjoy learning to improvise and
play some nice tunes with other people! If you play an instrument to any
level and would like to learn a few tricks for improvisation, you're in
luck! There are still a couple of places on the jazz-at-heart summer school
which takes place between 13th and 16th August (inclusive). Led by the
amazing Matt Roberts, graduate of Leeds College of Music and Trinity
College, London, he has been teaching adult learners for a number of years
and is also a recognised composer (twice winner of the Dankworth prize for
composition) as well as a gifted educator with a great sense of humour and
fun! Completely unthreatening atmosphere with other players of all abilities
and background - and ALL instruments welcome (last year we had violin and
recorder as well as the usual suspects)!
The course runs from 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday and will include a jam
session/gig in the café at HEART on the Thursday evening when we hope to be
joined by jam session regulars. It's a snip at £200, so snap up those last
two places!
Best wishes
Lesley
