You many have been watching Jimmy and the Giant Supermarket over the last few weeks, where the manufacturing process behind supermarket meat products is investigated. 
The story behind our produce is very different to that depicted at Tescos where pigs and chickens are raised in doors and the meat bulk processed by machines on a conveyor belt.

At Swillington Farm we believe in honest and trustworthy high welfare farming, we also butcher and prepare all our meat ourselves to ensure quality and traceabilty.

We invite you to get hands on and see this completely different approach to the supermarkets. We are proud of our animal welfare standards and you are welcome to come along and see our pigs, cows, sheep and chickens in their natural habitat - you can do just that at our Open Farm Sunday, 17th June!

On Sunday June 17th farms across the country will be opening up for visitors so that people can see and experience life on Britain's farms.

Visiting a farm provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old to enjoy the living, vibrant countryside. Take time to listen to the birds, soak up the scenery, experience the smells of the farmyard and really get in touch with the land that feeds us.

Swillington Organic Farm will be open for visits from 11am - 4pm.

Here's what's happening on Open Farm Sunday:

Throughout the day there will be:
Farm Walks to see our free range pigs, chickens, cows and sheep
Nature Trail

Groundwork Charcoal and Woodland Demo

Walled Garden and Swillington Garden Growers

Chicks, Lambs

Wool and Wool Spinning
Bee Hive Demo
Butchery Demo
Our farm shop will also be open and hot food and drink prepared by Create restaurant in Leeds will be available.
Times for activities including; Pig feeding, Lamb feeding, Egg Collecting and Butchery Demos will follow.
Please wear suitable footwear that can be disinfected upon entry.

Please dress for the weather with wellies and an umbrella, shelter is available and undercover activities are planned.

Swillington Organic Farm is located just off of Wakefield road near Swillington Bridge.
Parking is available but please walk down to the farm if you live locally or use public transport to ease congestion.

A Yorkshire Bar by Latitude Wine featuring Ilkley Beers, Sloe Motion Cocktails and Leventhorpe wine from the vineyard across the road.

Tickets are available on line (£6.50), on the door and in the farm shop, please invite your friends and spend the evening with us on the farm in good company and with good food drink and music at the Swillington Farm Scarecrow Festival
