Burglar alarm maintenance

thanks for all the joiners, very helpful   I have another request   we have a rather old burglar alarm that we need to start using but it needs a bit of maintenance. I dont want to ask a conventional company as I am sure they will want to sell us a new one.... any suggestions welcome   many thanks     Louise
