Judy trained in Textiles and Fine Art at Canterbury College of Art.
Her inspiration comes from the natural world and experiences and observations over time. She is fascinated by patterns and geometrical forms and the impact of time on both natural and man-made forms. Judy combines this with a love of fabric, texture and colour to engage in a creative process which sometimes produces surprising results. She uses mixed media (e.g. fabric, thread, paint, gesso) often working in layers which conceal and reveal, giving a sense of mystery and change over time. She uses both hand and machine stitching to draw and embellish.
Never pre-planned in detail, she sees the process as a dialogue between herself and the materials evolving like a journey, seeking to reach a point of resolution.
Judy enjoys the physical activity of the process and sees this as an important aspect of her work reflecting life's continual rhythm of growth and renewal.
